Jerusalem / A Solution for Municipal Jerusalem:

Yerushalayim and Al Quds

Because Municipal Jerusalem is largely devoid of contentious sites, the challenge is to create two viable and contiguous capitals whose geography has become intertwined over the past 50 years.

One possible solution, outlined by President Bill Clinton after the 2000 Camp David negotiations, proposed that the capital of the state of Israel consist of the city’s Jewish areas creating Yerushalayim, the Hebrew word for Jerusalem — and the capital of the future Palestinian state consist of the Palestinian areas — Al-Quds, the Arabic name for Jerusalem.
